A patio slider that takes two hands is usually rollers, track, or tilt. That is a heavier panel than a screen door. Hinged wood doors that bind belong on sticking or rubbing. Keep the tickets separate.
Four mechanical checks
Worn rollers: nylon cracks, a bearing seizes, or a wheel flats. The door drags.
Packed track: sand, pet hair, and grit. A pebble under a heavy panel will feel like a seized door.
Bent or pitted track: dents from traffic, or corrosion craters. Cleaning will not restore a deformed channel.
Misalignment: rollers at different heights tilt the panel into the head.
Look at the track with the door halfway open. Peek at the wheels only if you can do so without lifting the panel. A 100-plus-pound panel is not a DIY-safe lift.
Tandem rollers (two wheels per corner) spread load versus old single wheels. Stainless assemblies last longer in salt air than plain steel. Those are product facts. They are not a “$15–$30 extra” Fix Pro add-on.
Silicone or dry graphite on the running surfaces. Grease collects grit. WD-40 is a penetrant, not a lasting track lube.
Track repair versus a new door
A light dent can sometimes be reformed. Heavy pitting or a track set in tile or concrete is a different access problem. Missing vinyl track caps let the door jump. Warped frames, failed IGU fog, or single-pane aluminum with no thermal break is a replacement conversation.
Taskrabbit’s door-repair page listed Door repair prices begin at $50 per hour in San Diego. That is not a full patio-door replacement quote. Fix Pro San Diego does not publish a roller or replacement menu. Ask whether the quote covers rollers, track, lift, and glass.
Permits and timing
Hardware on an existing opening is often maintenance. New openings and structural changes are not. Confirm with Development Services for a City of San Diego address. Other cities set their own rules. There is no same-day service claim. The matched pro states schedule when they call.
Coastal salt ages rollers faster than inland. Monthly track rinses help. They are not a verified five-versus-fifteen-year wear table.
Call (858) 400-4611. Fix Pro San Diego matches you with licensed, independent local pros for door repair. It does not lift doors or set prices.
